"My world, my city, is calling my name."
Kim McManus
On Sunday, March 30, I preached my final sermon as pastor of Grace Community Bible Church, a church family I have loved and served for over 17 years. The next day Julie and I began the next phase of our life. Professionally, I am pursuing opportunities to serve as a university professor, perhaps of Philosophy. As my personal ministry, I am seeking opportunities to serve as a lay leader in urban church planting.
In many ways, we have been in transition to this new career and ministry for almost a year. In just as many ways, that transition is still under way! Like Abraham in Genesis 12, Julie and I are "going without knowing." Yes, we have some sense of the direction God is taking us, and His leading is becoming clearer with each passing day. But there are still many unknowns -- like what exactly we will be doing and how we will be making a living, things like that. Scary, sure, but very exciting!
Julie and I would like to invite you to join us! This blog will keep you posted on our progress and fully up to speed on our prayer needs. Please visit often. We would even encourage you to subscribe. Just look for the "subscribe" link on the left hand side bar, just below the picture. At the top of the right hand side bar you will find a number of pages dedicated to explaining different aspects of our dream.
FInally, we would ask you to pray. To visit to our Online Prayer Forum, click here. To get updates sent to your e-mail or to leave comments on the online forum, click here.
Thank you for your love and your support. We look forward with you to seeing what God will do to build His Kingdom in the lives of young adults, both on the university campus and across urban Houston!
